World’s highest suspension bridge built in China

China has put into operation the Huazhan–Canyon suspension bridge. Its roadway is located 625 meters above the ground — twice the height of the Eiffel Tower. The bridge is nearly 3 kilometers long. During testing, 96 trucks carrying a total load of 3,300 tons drove onto the bridge simultaneously, demonstrating its strength.

The new road will reduce travel time between mountainous areas from one hour to just a few minutes. Construction lasted 3.5 years and cost 283 million dollars.
