Women in the U.S. Will Now Also Undergo Military Training

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset plans to review the effectiveness of women serving in the military. The assessment will be carried out by the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) and will last six months. According to Hegset, uniform and gender-neutral standards should be maintained for all service members, but physical requirements for women may be raised, which in some cases could hinder their ability to serve in the armed forces. Currently, women make up about 18% of the U.S. military.
