Woman who killed her two children in Syrdarya sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison

In the Syrdarya region, a 32-year-old woman killed her two minor children to exact revenge on her husband following an argument.
The incident took place on February 1, 2024, in a rented home in the Gulistan district. The woman strangled her 6-year-old son first, followed by her 4-year-old son. To cover up the crime, she laid out the children's bodies and turned on the gas stove and taps, attempting to create the impression that they had died from carbon monoxide poisoning. She then attempted suicide but survived after receiving medical treatment.
Forensic medical examination determined that the children had died from strangulation, not carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Shirin City Court for Criminal Cases found the woman guilty and sentenced her to 13 years and 4 months of imprisonment. She will serve her sentence in a general-regime penal colony.
