Woman in Kashkadarya dies after enduring years of abuse from her mother-in-law

In the Kashkadarya Region, a 47-year-old woman was sentenced to five years in prison for subjecting her daughter-in-law to continuous psychological and physical abuse over a period of three years.

According to court documents, the woman, a resident of Chiroqchi District, repeatedly insulted her daughter-in-law, physically assaulted her on several occasions, forced her out of the house, and subjected her to ongoing psychological pressure from 2022 until October 2025. She also prevented her from meeting her parents and restricted her access to a mobile phone. Investigators further established that, in some instances, she dragged the victim by her hair into the street and caused her bodily injuries.

According to the investigation, on October 2, 2025, the daughter-in-law died following a prolonged period of physical and psychological abuse. The Chiroqchi District Criminal Court found the mother-in-law guilty and sentenced her to five years' imprisonment.
