Woman arrested in the US for scamming men through 14 marriages

A fraud scheme orchestrated by 33-year-old Jiayin Chen, who deceived men through sham marriages in Las Vegas over a seven-year period, has been exposed. Investigators revealed that she married at least 14 times between 2019 and 2024. She would meet men on social media and, shortly after marrying them, obtain large sums of money under the pretext of paying for the medical treatment of seriously ill relatives in China. Once she secured the funds, she would cut off all contact and vanish.
It is reported that the woman had previously been married seven times. After being arrested and released on bail in 2024, she managed to marry another seven times under the name Vicky Liang. One victim stated that he gave her $23,000 for a relative's medical treatment, only for her to disappear two weeks later, seeking a divorce. Another man handed over nearly $30,000 under the guise of purchasing a home together.
The investigation revealed that Chen spent the majority of the money she obtained on gambling rather than on her relatives. Police confirmed that she lost over $300,000 in casinos. Szyain Chen has admitted to fraudulently obtaining over $100,000 and arranging sham marriages. The court's verdict is scheduled to be announced on August 20. Prosecutors are seeking restitution for the financial losses suffered by the victims.
