Will UAE bank offices open in Tajikistan?

A representative of the Central Bank of the UAE announced Abu Dhabi’s readiness to establish bilateral cooperation with Dushanbe, especially in the banking system

First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda met with the head of the department for relations with government organizations and non-bank accounts of the Central Bank of the UAE, Salem Al-Harmi, the regulator’s press service reported.

During the meeting, Tolibzoda noted that Tajikistan has created all the necessary conditions to attract direct investment in the economic sector.

In turn, Al-Harmi declared his readiness to establish mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, especially in the banking system.

Thus, during the negotiations, the parties discussed a number of issues related to the opening of representative offices and branches of UAE banks in Tajikistan. In addition, the topic of Islamic banking was touched upon.

It is clarified that Tolibzoda and Al-Harmi will pay special attention to cooperation between the central banks of Tajikistan and the UAE. The parties also expressed interest in signing a new draft Memorandum of Understanding on the exchange of information and experience between central banks.
