On September 3, Vladimir Putin paid an official visit to Mongolia. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin in 2023 in countries that have ratified the Rome Statute. Mongolia refused to arrest Putin. In response to this situation, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that he understands the situation in the country and that the US supports him.
He explained that Putin was not arrested.
"Mongolia is dependent on energy, 95 percent of oil products and more than 20 percent of electricity are imported from neighboring countries. This supply is very important for the survival of the Mongolian people.''
"We expect Mongolia to abide by its obligations and uphold the principles of the UN Charter," Miller said.
