The World Health Organization has declared an international emergency due to the monkey pox situation getting out of control in some parts of Africa.

At least 450 people have died from monkeypox in the territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outbreak has now spread to parts of central and eastern Africa, and scientists have expressed concern over the rapid spread of the new variant and its high death rate.

The monkeypox virus can be transmitted through close contact, such as sexual contact, skin-to-skin contact, and airborne transmission. One in 100 patients may die.
