What’s Behind Uzbekistan’s Rainy Summer?

Uzbekistan’s summer has been unusually cool and rainy, sparking various opinions on social media. Some users claimed it was due to Iran striking artificial rain centers in the UAE, while others linked it to the US HAARP project. Climate scientist Erkin Abdulahatov told “Gazeta.uz” that these claims have no scientific basis. He explained that artificial rain technology can only affect existing clouds locally, but it cannot change the climate of an entire region or “pull” rainfall from neighboring countries. HAARP also cannot control weather, as it is a scientific facility designed to study the ionosphere.

The expert noted that this year’s wet season is explained by natural atmospheric processes, changes in oceans, and air flows. The main causes of drought, however, are climate change, rising temperatures, increased evaporation, and inefficient use of water resources. According to Abdulahatov, the focus should now be on saving water, adapting agriculture to climate change, and ensuring water security.
