What is Biden's purpose in going to Israel?

US President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday, October 18, CBS reports citing US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

"First, the president reaffirms America's solidarity with Israel and our commitment to its security. "Secondly, President Biden is sending a clear message to any state or non-state actors who want to use this crisis to attack Israel that they should not do so," Blinken said.

During the visit, Biden will be briefed on Israel's military goals and strategy. Blinken added that the US president wants to learn about the Israeli army's plans to "minimize civilian casualties and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches civilians in the Gaza Strip without falling into the hands of Hamas" during the military operation.

Earlier, Blinken visited Israel as part of his trip to the Middle East. In addition to Israel, he visited Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin also came to Israel. He met his colleague Yoav Galant. The head of the Pentagon assured him that the United States would strongly support Israel and provide Tel Aviv with "everything it needs to defend itself."
