Weekly cleaning of apartment buildings now mandatory

From now on, entrance corridors and staircases in multi-apartment buildings in Uzbekistan must be cleaned at least once a week.

This requirement is stipulated in new regulations registered by the Ministry of Justice on April 29.

According to the updated standards, a general technical passport must be maintained for each apartment building by its management body. They are also responsible for ensuring that building structures, surveillance cameras, and intercom systems remain in proper working condition, as well as for purchasing necessary maintenance equipment and materials.

The placement of advertisements, announcements, and other external elements on building facades and common areas is allowed only based on a decision made at a general meeting of property owners. Additionally, noise levels inside buildings must not exceed sanitary norms.

Common areas—such as staircases, elevators, waste disposal rooms, basements, and adjacent territories—must be regularly disinfected, disinsected, and deratized as needed. In case of pipe-related accidents in basements leading to water accumulation, the management body must resolve the issue within 24 hours.

Elevator rooms must also be cleaned at least once a week, and elevator equipment must undergo continuous technical inspection.

These new regulations are aimed at improving sanitary conditions and enhancing the quality of living.

At the same time, between 2026 and 2030, a cluster-based management system for apartment buildings will be piloted in certain regions. Buildings will be categorized based on their condition, and lots consisting of at least 7,000 households will be formed. Management organizations will be selected by property owners through the “Mening uyim” platform.
