Uzbekistan has risen to 24 points in the world broadband (wired) internet speed rating. About it Cable.co.uk the publication reported.
It is reported that the Republic was ranked 155th in the world for wired internet speed in 2022. In the current year, however, the results have changed, rising to 131st place. That is, there was a 24-point increase over the previous year's ranking. The platform recorded a wired internet speed of 21.67 Mbit/s in Uzbekistan.
Commenting on this news, the minister of digital technologies Sherzod Shermatov emphasized the abundance of work to increase the speed of the internet in Uzbekistan.
"If you focus on the schedule, there is a decrease in the internet speed rating in most neighboring countries due to the turmoil in the world. However, as a result of measures aimed at the development of the ICT sector, Uzbekistan has risen to 24 points. Of course, we still have to do a lot to increase the speed of the internet on the way to turning Uzbekistan into an IT hub,” the minister wrote in the Telegram channel.
According to the rating, in terms of wired internet speed, Uzbekistan overtook neighboring Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the list ranked Kyrgyzstan 142nd, Kazakhstan 155th, Turkmenistan 206th, Tajikistan 214th.
The ranking ranked the island of Jersey (264.52 Mbit/s), Liechtenstein(246.76 Mbit/s), Macau(231.40 Mbit/s), Iceland (229.35 Mbit/s) and Gibraltar (206.27 Mbit/s) as the fastest internet areas in the world.
Globally, countries such as Afghanistan (1.71 Mbit/s), Yemen (1.79 Mbit/s), Syria (2.30 Mbit/s), East Timor (2.50 Mbit/s) and Equatorial Guinea (2.70 Mbit/s) are among the lowest internet speeds.
