Vucic announces his resignation as leader of the Serbian Progressive Party

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced his upcoming resignation as chairman of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.

"Today is the last evening when I address you as the chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party. Tomorrow I will be the leader of all citizens of Serbia, and not the chairman of a political party. Great people will stand up for the leadership of our party," Vucic said, speaking to the participants of a nationwide rally in support of the country's government.

Aleksandar Vučić was elected as head of the party on September 29, 2012.
