The President reviewed a presentation aimed at developing the automotive industry, expanding production capacities and increasing the competitiveness of the sector. The presentation noted that in recent years, the automotive industry in Uzbekistan has reached a new level, with increased choice and increased competition in the market. Currently, several plants are operating with the participation of the Chevrolet, BYD, KIA and Hyundai brands, and in the coming years, Volkswagen, Foton and JAC projects are planned to be launched.
The presentation considered issues of increasing the volume of production and the number of employees in the automotive industry to 1 million. The fact that many project proposals for the production and assembly of passenger and commercial vehicles are being received indicates that a favorable investment climate and a highly profitable market are being formed in Uzbekistan.
It is also planned to establish a large-scale production center in Tashkent within the framework of the Volkswagen project, and at the next stage, a full-cycle production will be organized in the Angren free economic zone. At the end of the presentation, the task was set to implement a strategy for the development of the automotive spare parts market by the end of 2026, involving international consulting companies.
