"Visa" company opened its office in Tashkent. Andrew Torre, President of the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) region, announced this at the Visa Central Asia Payment Forum. "Visa has been operating in Central Asia for more than 30 years, and we are pleased to announce the opening of our office in Uzbekistan for the first time," said Andrew Torre. He noted the significant growth of digital payments as part of the cashless economy development strategy implemented by the government and the Central Bank. "The future of money in Central Asia is closely related to digital technologies. "We are witnessing a significant and steady transition to convenient, fast and secure digital payments," said Andrew Torre. He expects continued cooperation with the state and private sectors to support economic growth and development in the region. Vera Platonova, senior vice-president and regional manager for Ukraine, Georgia, CIS countries and South-Eastern Europe, noted that Uzbekistan is of strategic importance for Visa, supporting cashless economy in the country in the next three decades and stated that the work on the implementation of safe and continuous digital transactions will be continued. "The opening of this office in Tashkent will strengthen the support provided to all financial institutions and trade and service enterprises in the country and will make a positive contribution to further development of industry and overall economic growth," he said. Also, within the framework of the forum, experts discussed aspects that help to develop digital payments, transform business, and increase the scale of trade and money movement across Central Asia. "Visa" company has been introducing innovative technologies and solutions in Uzbekistan.
