Visa interviews in the US have been temporarily suspended
Visa interviews at U.S. embassies and consulates have been temporarily suspended. This is due to special training for consular officers being held around the world.
According to the U.S. State Department, visa appointments scheduled during the training will be rescheduled. New interview dates will be announced later.
The training is aimed at helping consular officers more closely screen visa applicants and identify those who may be dependent on U.S. government assistance.
This comes as the administration of President Donald Trump is tightening immigration controls. However, the State Department did not say how long the interviews will be suspended.
