Veterinarian in Tashkent Jailed for Beating Dogs to Death
In Tashkent, a veterinarian who killed four dogs by beating them with a stick was sentenced to 7 days of administrative detention. Two men who assisted him were fined 4,120,000 soums each. According to court documents, the veterinarian had been asked to euthanize dogs infected with plague in a painless manner. However, a video widely circulated on social media showed three men brutally beating the animals with sticks. Representatives of the Society for Ecology and Animal Protection confirmed the incident. A neighbor who witnessed the event said she tried to stop the men, but no one paid attention to her.
