Verdict Delivered Against Student Who Struck Traffic Police Officer with BMW in Tashkent

A verdict has been handed down to a 16-year-old student who caused the death of a traffic police officer by striking him with a BMW in Tashkent’s Mirobod district. The Tashkent city courts reported the news.

Under the court's verdict, Doniyor Turg‘unov—born in 2010 and a 10th-grade student at a private school—was found guilty under Article 104, Part 3, Clause "d" of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to two years and four months of imprisonment.

The incident occurred on February 25. Turg‘unov took a BMW belonging to an acquaintance's sister from a car wash without notifying the staff. On Nukus Street in the Mirobod district, he failed to comply with a lawful order to stop issued by traffic police officer Junior Sergeant Hosilbek Eshnazarov. He then struck the officer with the vehicle and fled the scene. Hosilbek Eshnazarov, who sustained severe injuries, later died in the hospital.

The court ruled that Turg‘unov’s sentence would be calculated starting from February 27, 2026—the date the preventive measure of detention was applied.
