Uzbekistan to expand support system for children with developmental disabilities

On April 17 of this year, the President reviewed the presentation of proposals aimed at improving the social protection system, supporting the needy and expanding the scope of social services. It was noted that from June 1, 2026, the “Early Intervention” service will be gradually introduced for the first time for children aged 0-3 years with developmental disabilities. As part of the service, special educators and physical education specialists will organize correctional and pedagogical, speech and physical development classes. Also, the costs of additional examinations and surgeries for children born with anatomical defects will be covered by the State Medical Insurance Fund. During 2026, new social services will also be launched, such as the “Yangi Kun” day care service for persons with disabilities of groups I and II with mental disorders, home care, “Madad” homes, and “Social Leave”.
