Uzbekistan tightens control over anthrax

 

Due to the increase in anthrax cases in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan is taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease. According to the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health, thorough checks are carried out at 55 border crossings. All conditions have been created for the diagnosis and treatment of suspected cases.

In addition, soil samples are taken from outbreaks and constant monitoring is carried out in laboratories.

Anthrax is a dangerous infectious disease caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis, which is mainly transmitted from animals. In humans, the disease can occur in the form of skin, lung or gastrointestinal tract. It is not transmitted from person to person. The disease is mainly transmitted through contact with a sick animal or through the consumption of undercooked meat.
