Uzbekistan’s population to grow sharply: 2050 forecast released
According to UNICEF’s analysis “Generation 2050 in Central Asia,” Uzbekistan’s population is expected to continue to grow, exceeding 40 million in 2030 and 52 million in 2050.
According to data, the country’s population has grown from 25 million in 2000 to 37 million in 2025. As of April 2026, Uzbekistan had a population of more than 38.4 million.
According to forecasts, by 2050, the average age of the population will reach 35 years, and the number of working-age citizens will exceed 33 million. At the same time, the number of elderly people will almost triple, exceeding 6 million.
Experts attribute this increase to the fact that the birth rate remains higher than the death rate.
