Uzbekistan plans to sell Mobiuz for $300 million

Uzbekistan plans to privatize the mobile operator Universal Mobile Systems (Mobiuz) for $300 million. According to Bloomberg, investors in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Europe expressed interest in the company.
As of late 2024, Mobiuz had 7.8 million subscribers with a market share of 20.9%. The company's annual revenue was estimated at $164 million.
The state had sold all of Mobiuz's shares. The deadline for submitting applications for investors is set for August 1.
The privatization process began in 2022, and in April of this year the president signed a new resolution on this issue.
