Uzbekistan loses to Congo, bids farewell to the World Cup
In the 3rd round of the 2026 World Cup group stage, the Uzbekistan national team lost to DR Congo 3:1 and ended its participation in the tournament.
In the 10th minute of the match, Eldor Shomurodov opened the scoring, putting Uzbekistan ahead. To do this, DR Congo turned the game in their favor in the first half. Yoan Vissa equalized from the penalty spot, Fiston Mayele put his team ahead, and in extra time, Vissa scored another goal, making the final score 3:1.
