Uzbekistan’s athletes finished the 20th Asian Summer Games in Nagoya, Japan, with 21 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze medals — 70 medals in total.
China topped the medal table with 169 gold medals, followed by Japan with 83, South Korea with 39 and India with 21. Uzbekistan also won 21 gold medals, tying with India in golds, but finished 5th because it had fewer silver medals.
Uzbekistan recorded the best result among the Central Asian countries. Kazakhstan finished 8th, Tajikistan 19th, Kyrgyzstan 22nd and Turkmenistan 27th.
Thus, Uzbekistan finished 5th in the overall standings at the Asian Games for the second consecutive time.
