Uzbekistan bans forced gas and electricity savings

According to the presidential decree of April 29, saving electricity and natural gas by disconnecting consumers from the network or imposing restrictions is not allowed in Uzbekistan.

Starting from July 1, 2026, it will be mandatory for buildings constructed or renovated in state organizations and social sector facilities to have at least the “S” category in terms of energy efficiency.

Also, efficiency improvement programs will be introduced in state facilities with high energy consumption, and energy consumption will be monitored through artificial intelligence and analytical systems.

In addition, the nationwide movement “Energy Efficiency is the Key to a Prosperous Life” has been launched, and special attention will be paid to the formation of a culture of energy saving among the population.
