Uzbekistan approves the state budget for 2026

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the law on the state budget for 2026. According to the law, budget funds may be used only during the 2026 fiscal year and may not be carried over to the next year.

The main parameters set for 2026 include:

• maximum fees for leasing property, retail sales of certain goods, and the transit of foreign vehicles;

• the consolidated budget deficit must not exceed 3 percent of gross domestic product;

• more than 3 percent of budget expenditures may be reduced upon the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers with the approval of the Oliy Majlis, while a smaller portion may be reduced by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers upon the proposal of the Ministry of Economy and Finance;

• expenditures of the budgets of Karakalpakstan and the regions are determined by the respective territorial councils.

The law comes into force on 1 January 2026.
