Uzbekistan appoints new National Guard Commander and Emergency Situations Minister

By a presidential decree on January 28, Rustam Juraev, who had served as Commander of the National Guard since March 2020, was dismissed from his post. He was replaced by Bahodir Toshmatov, who previously worked as Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President.

In addition, Azizbek Ikromov, who had served as head of the Fergana Regional Department of Internal Affairs, was appointed Minister of Emergency Situations. He replaced Botir Kudratkhodjaev, who had led the Ministry since February 2025.
