The governments of Uzbekistan and the United States intend to continue coordinating the provision of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was reported that Ismatulla Irgashev, the special representative of the President of Uzbekistan on Afghanistan, met with Charlotte Oldham-Moore, a senior staff member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Congress Senate in Tashkent.
During the conversation, opinions were exchanged on current issues on the agenda. In particular, the representative of the Senate of the US Congress emphasized the need to establish a government based on broad representation in Afghanistan, as well as to coordinate the efforts of Central Asian countries and the world community to ensure the rights of women in this country.
The parties also noted the importance of further coordination of the efforts of Uzbekistan and the United States to provide humanitarian and other assistance to Afghanistan.
On July 19, Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched on the issues of achieving peace in Afghanistan at the first summit of the leaders of the Cooperation Council of Central Asian countries and the Gulf Arab States. "Our regions should take the initiative and draw the attention of the whole world to the problems of Afghanistan from big platforms, and make a worthy contribution to making the life of the Afghan people easier," said the head of state.
