Uzbekistan and the EU intend to continue consultations on Afghanistan

A meeting was held between the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Ergashev and the Special Ambassador of the European Union for Afghanistan Thomas Niklasson.
According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the conversation, the efforts of Uzbekistan and the European Union to resolve the Afghan crisis in a peaceful way, and to quickly provide humanitarian and other assistance to the country were discussed.

The importance of the leading role of the UN in regulating the Afghan problem and coordinating international efforts was emphasized.

The parties expressed their mutual interest in continuing consultations on the Afghan problem both on a bilateral basis and at the level of special representatives of the Central Asian countries.
