Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan sign pension agreement

On July 30, 2026, during a high-level meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed an Agreement on State Social Insurance and Pension Provision.

Under the agreement, the pension rights of citizens who have worked in both countries will be mutually recognized. Each country will independently calculate and pay pensions for the employment period accumulated within its own territory.

The amount of the pension will be determined under the legislation of the respective country, based on the individual’s employment history, salary, or paid social insurance contributions.

The agreement also allows citizens to continue receiving a pension granted in one country even after moving to the other.

In addition, the document covers funeral benefits, medical and social assessments, protection of personal data, and information exchange between the competent authorities.

The agreement is expected to strengthen the protection of pension rights for people who have worked in both Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan while enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of social security.
