On July 8–9 of this year, Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid an official visit to Belarus. At the conclusion of the meetings, a declaration establishing strategic partnership relations between the two states was signed.
Key outcomes of the official visit included:
– An action plan for developing trade-economic and socio-humanitarian cooperation for 2026–2030;
– An agreement regarding the temporary employment of Uzbek citizens in Belarus;
– A cooperation program in the cultural sphere for 2026–2028;
– A plan to increase mutual tourist flows and develop cooperation in the tourism sector for 2026–2027;
– A memorandum on establishing an Uzbekistan-Belarus Expert Council between the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan and the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies;
During the negotiations, special attention was paid to expanding mutual trade and economic ties. The parties agreed to increase the volume of mutual trade to $2 billion in the coming years and to implement new joint projects in agriculture, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, light industry, and other sectors. Uzbekistan had previously elevated its relations with Georgia to the level of a strategic partnership.
