Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to build hospital in Mazar-i-Sharif

Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have agreed to build a hospital in Mazar-i-Sharif on a public-private partnership basis.

A delegation led by Health Minister Asilbek Khudayarov met with Afghan Health Minister Mawlavi Nur Jalal, Balkh Province Governor Muhammad Yusuf Wafo, and other officials in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan. The delegation noted the lack of medical infrastructure in Afghanistan, especially the increasing number of cancer cases, and requested Uzbekistan's assistance.

According to the agreement, the project will be implemented in partnership with Arman Group: the Afghan side will invest, provide buildings and equipment, and Uzbekistan will provide qualified doctors.

The issues of training Afghan specialists in Uzbekistan, simplifying medical visas for patients, and establishing a joint working group were also agreed upon.
