Uzbekistan ranked 30th in the world and 1st in Central Asia, scoring 70 points in the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) open data rating of the Open Data Watch organization.
The country took 44th place with 63 points in 2020, and 40th place in 2022.
Open Data Watch is an international non-profit organization that works on the basis of open data and official statistics. The Open Data Inventory (ODIN) rating evaluates the completeness of a country's statistical offerings and the extent to which the data in them meet international standards of openness.
Uzbekistan's place in the rating improved due to significant increases in budget transparency, openness in finance and banking sub-indicators.
In the 2022 results of the rating, Singapore took the first place. Poland, Denmark, Finland and Norway took the next places.
The countries of the region were counted, Kazakhstan - 51st, Kyrgyzstan - 92nd, Tajikistan - 126th, Turkmenistan - 195th.
In mid-July, it was reported that Uzbekistan has risen in the freedom of speech rating of the Article 19 organization, which supports international freedom of speech and information. According to the ranking of The Global Expression Report compiled at the end of 2022, Uzbekistan took the 133rd place out of 161 countries. Also, Uzbekistan ranked 137th out of 180 countries in the press freedom index, dropping four places from its place in the 2022 ranking.
