8 citizens of Uzbekistan who were involved in gold smuggling were arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The Customs Department of the country informs about this. As a result of the operation conducted by the customs representatives, gold chains worth 2.92 million rupees (about 35 thousand US dollars) were confiscated. According to information, a group of women arrived from Tashkent and was stopped by customs officers. When their luggage was searched, 50 gold chains with a total weight of 5.3 kilograms were found hidden in a hollow metal box attached to the back of their luggage. According to a statement issued by the Customs Department, the value of the seized gold chains is approximately Rs 2.92 crore. After the investigation, eight passengers were immediately arrested.
