Uzbek blogger wanted internationally by Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has placed Uzbek blogger Mahmud Hikmatov on an international wanted list. He is known on social media as “Maxa.dxb.” Born in 2000, Hikmatov is suspected of promoting illegal online casinos. According to investigators, he recruited bloggers to promote illegal gambling platforms in Kazakhstan.

According to Kazakhstan’s Agency for Financial Monitoring, Hikmatov involved more than 35 bloggers in the illegal advertising scheme. He collected information about their audiences, the geographic distribution of their followers, and advertising rates.

A detention measure has been ordered against Hikmatov. Kazakhstan has promised a reward and anonymity to anyone who provides information about his whereabouts.
