Uzbek–Afghan Border Reopens for Citizens

The checkpoint for civilian crossing via the Termez–Hairatan bridge has resumed operations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Passengers can now travel directly and safely between the two countries, while the existing visa requirement remains in force. Due to the restrictions introduced in 2021, entrepreneurs were forced to reach Mazar-i-Sharif through Tajikistan, making a full-day detour. These restrictions have now been lifted.

The reopening of the border also creates convenience for exporting companies. Uzbekistan’s exports to Afghanistan are expected to reach 2.5 billion dollars by 2026. The government will support entrepreneurs with the following incentives: 100% coverage of warehouse expenses and full reimbursement of product advertising costs across 34 provinces.
