The Iranian national team, which is supposed to participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by North America, is not being issued US visas. This was announced by the head of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj.
Mehdi Taj said that important negotiations with FIFA will be held in the coming days and expects clear guarantees from the organization. It is noted that the players had to go to Ankara, Turkey, to undergo the biometric procedures required for obtaining a visa. However, the Iranian side is considering the possibility of organizing this procedure in Antalya in order to create convenience.
It should be noted that in recent months, the situation between the two countries has become more complicated due to tensions in the region. Nevertheless, the Iranian national team is expected to participate in the 2026 World Cup. During the tournament, the team is in Group G and will play against New Zealand, Belgium and Egypt.
