US-Iran talks end without results

The talks between the United States and Iran in Pakistan ended inconclusively. The meeting began on Saturday, April 11, and continued until Sunday morning. It was the first direct and high-level talks between the two sides in more than a decade.

The United States demanded that Iran stop enriching uranium, dismantle major nuclear facilities, and hand over enriched uranium. However, Iran rejected these demands. The United States also rejected demands that Iran stop funding certain armed groups and fully open the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the talks had been complicated by “strong demands and pressure” when the parties were close to an agreement.

After the US-Iran talks ended inconclusively, Trump ordered the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. In response, the Iranian government warned that strict action would be taken against warships approaching the strait.
