The United Nations Children's Fund organized a series of capacity building events in Turkmenistan in the field of emergency preparedness.
The events are organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education and the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan as part of a regional capacity building program for disaster preparedness.
During the implementation of the program, about 1,000 schoolchildren, 400 directors and teachers from 10 target schools, as well as over 300 employees and volunteers of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan received appropriate training. The geography of participants covered the city of Ashgabat, the regions of Akhal, Lebap and Dashoguz.
Participants raised awareness on climate change, disaster risk reduction, and first aid.
