The main directions of the state budget for 2024 were reviewed under the chairmanship of the President

Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a video selector meeting was held to discuss the main directions of the state budget for 2024 and the tasks to be implemented in sectors and regions.

First of all, clear objectives were set to reduce costs by reducing costs in large industries. For example, in the fourth quarter of this year alone, it was calculated that 2.1 trillion soums of expenses could be reduced in 349 large industrial enterprises. In order to systematically continue these works, the government was instructed to develop a program to reduce costs in large industries by 15-20 percent next year.

It was emphasized that the "big leap" in agriculture can be achieved only through science. In this regard, a task was set to increase the yield of cotton to 50 centners per hectare and 100 centners per hectare by wide application of modern scientific achievements in land quality, varieties and agrotechnology.

The water problem in our region is becoming more urgent every day. In the last two years, 22 trillion soums have been allocated from the budget for water management, including about 1 trillion soums of subsidies for water-saving technologies.

Therefore, in the coming years, the funds allocated for concrete irrigation canals and installation of water-saving technologies will be increased. In particular, water infrastructure projects worth 1.7 trillion soums and 300 million dollars from international financial organizations will be implemented next year at the expense of centralized investment. The head of our state touched on this issue in more detail and noted that a three-year program for concreting irrigation canals will be adopted.

The development of social spheres is defined as a priority task in the recently adopted "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy. That is why the draft state budget for 2024 pays great attention to these areas.

In the initial project, it was planned to build and reconstruct 317 schools. Taking into account the importance of this issue and local demand, the President proposed to allocate funds for the construction of 150 more schools.

Possibilities of attracting 32 billion dollars of investment in the network, industry and regions next year, and increasing exports to 19 billion dollars were considered.

Based on the opinions expressed at the meeting, the draft budget for 2024 will be submitted to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

The second issue on the agenda was related to socio-economic development of regions. On the example of Kashkadarya region, the head of state showed how to complete the work to the maximum extent by the end of the year, the demand of the population and the way out of the problem when setting future plans. It was emphasized that the governorships and the ministries are equally responsible, and it is necessary to work together and solve the issues in the fields and places.
