UN warns of food shortage threat
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has warned that the ongoing crisis around the Strait of Hormuz could pose a serious threat to global food security.
According to the organization, the situation could negatively affect the supply of fertilizers and energy resources, leading to higher food prices and lower yields.
It was also noted that rising oil and gas prices could increase the cost of living, which would hit the most vulnerable groups of the population particularly hard.
FAO representatives said that resource shortages could lead to reduced production, higher inflation and a slowdown in global economic growth.
