Shavkat Mirziyoyev received on August 18 a delegation of this prestigious global structure headed by Miroslav Yencha, assistant secretary-general of the United Nations for political affairs and peace building issues. This was reported by the press service of the President.
It is reported that issues of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation with UN institutions and centers were discussed in the implementation of long-term sustainable development goals. At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking representative Miroslav Yencha conveyed to the head of state the greetings and best wishes of the general secretary of the organization Antonio Guterrish. It was noted that the UN structures are still ready to comprehensively support the program of irreversible reforms for the establishment of a new Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that in the following years, the country's mutually beneficial cooperation with the UN reached a high level. Together, nearly 140 programs and projects are being implemented. On the initiative of Uzbekistan, 6 resolutions of the General Assembly of the United Nations were adopted.
Uzbekistan is actively involved in human rights council, economic and Social Council Commission, Unesco committee on cultural heritage and many other structures. In the second half of this year, a number of important international events within the UN are planned to be held in our country, including the FAO Conference on food security and the 25th anniversary session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization.
At the meeting, the prospects for practical cooperation in the implementation of national tasks and goals in the field of sustainable development were considered. Particular attention was paid to the issues of strengthening good neighborliness and partnerships in Central Asia and strengthening the role of the UN Regional Center for preventive diplomacy in the process.
