Ukraine launches major drone strike on Russian capital

On the night of May 16-17, Ukraine launched a drone strike on the Russian city of Moscow and the Moscow region. According to local authorities, at least three people were killed and several others were injured in the attack. It is noted that this is the largest drone attack on Moscow since the beginning of the war. The drones damaged residential areas, fuel and energy facilities and industrial parks. In particular, a woman died when a drone hit a private house in the city of Khimki. Two more men died in the village of Pogorelki.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that more than 120 drones had been shot down around the capital in the past 24 hours. The attack led to a four-hour restriction on the activities of the Russian Rosaviatsia airport. Russia also continues to shell Ukrainian cities.
