Ukraine Attacks Putin's Residence with Drones, Kiev Denies It

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Ukraine attacked Russian President Vladimir Putin's state residence in the Novgorod region (near Valdai) on the night of December 29 with 91 drones. He noted that all the drones were shot down by air defense systems, and there were no casualties or material damage.
Lavrov said that the incident would cause Russia to reconsider its position in the peace talks, but Moscow said it would not withdraw from the talks. He also said that Russia would take retaliatory measures.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called the statement "another lie from Russia" and noted that Moscow was using it as a pretext for new strikes on Ukraine. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also said that Russia was making such claims only to justify its attacks.
US President Donald Trump said he had been briefed on the incident by Putin, calling it a "bad and inappropriate act" and expressing his anger over what had happened.
