UFC Fighter Faints During Weigh-In Ceremony

On January 23, American UFC fighter Cameron Smotherman fainted during the weigh-in ceremony in Las Vegas ahead of UFC 324. According to ESPN, Smotherman made weight but collapsed while standing on the scale. He was immediately given medical assistance and regained consciousness.

Speaking about his condition, Smotherman said:
“I’m fine. I don’t exactly know what happened. They’re saying it might be the result of extreme weight cutting, but I barely cut any weight. There will be tests to find out the cause. I’ll be back soon, and I apologize to my opponent.”

The 28-year-old fighter has a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 6 losses. He was scheduled to fight Russian fighter Ricky Turcios today, January 24.
