Russia's Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) plans to start assembling cars in Uzbekistan. For this purpose, the area of the Chirchik technopark in the Tashkent region is being considered.
"Representatives of UAZ have expressed their intention to start car assembly in Uzbekistan and are considering the areas of the technology park for this," the press service of the technology park said.
It was reported that the representatives of the UAZ Russian Automobile Plant visited the Chirchik chemical-industrial technological park on August 21 and expressed their interest in this matter. During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the activities of the technology park and were told about the opportunities for investors who have received resident status.
"Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant" (UAZ) was established in 1941. Specializes in the production of all-wheel drive light and low-tonnage passenger cars under the UAZ brand. Since 2000, it has been part of the Sollers automobile concern.
A few years ago, Aleksey Zabolotnov, the head of UAZ's CIS department, spoke about the plan to launch the production of UAZ cars in Uzbekistan. "Uzbekistan has very good opportunities in terms of automobile business," he said at the exhibition held in Tashkent.
