Two young men fined in Andijan for throwing a kitten for social media likes
Two young men in Andijan have been fined after throwing a kitten into a deep construction pit in an attempt to gain more attention on social media. The video sparked widespread public outrage.
According to officials, the incident took place on July 27 near the Navruz Mall shopping and entertainment complex. An 18-year-old blogger threw the kitten into the construction site to attract more followers, while his 20-year-old acquaintance recorded the incident and posted it on Instagram.
Both individuals were charged with animal cruelty under administrative law and were each fined 10 basic calculation units (BHM), equivalent to 4.1 million Uzbek soums.
