Two internal affairs officers in the city of Chirchik have been sentenced to six years in prison for accepting a bribe to cover up a beating incident and resolve the case in favor of the perpetrators rather than the victim.

According to court documents, on February 17, 2026, a citizen named Sh.M. was beaten by a group of individuals following an altercation at a café in Chirchik. An investigation into the incident was launched after he was taken to the hospital.

The prevention inspector handling the case, D.R., and the head of the Crime Prevention Department of the Chirchik City Internal Affairs Directorate’s Public Security Service, N.A., demanded $3,000 in exchange for the victim withdrawing his complaint and the case being closed. On February 18, 2026, they received $2,700 of the agreed amount; of this, $1,700 was divided between them, while $1,000 was given to the victim. Subsequently, a decision was issued refusing to initiate criminal proceedings regarding the incident.

Based on witness testimonies, telephone conversations, and other evidence, the court found both officers guilty. They were found guilty of offenses involving bribery, the falsification of evidence, and the intentional concealment of a crime from official records. The court sentenced both former internal affairs officers to six years in prison and barred them from working in the internal affairs system for three years. It was ordered that the sentence be served in a general-regime penal colony.

I. Saidov—known by the nickname "Islom Buxarskiy"—and five other individuals linked to the case have also been detained. Investigative proceedings against them are currently ongoing.
