Two-month-old baby's hand amputated in Tashkent

Reports have spread on social networks that a 2-month-old baby's hands were amputated due to improper treatment by doctors. As it turned out, on December 9, 2024, the parents took their baby with a fever to the hospital. The patient was immediately examined by the doctor on duty, N. Sultanova. During the initial examination, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. The patient's condition was assessed by doctors as serious and he was immediately hospitalized in the department of pathology of infants and premature babies of the institution. After the examinations, the patient was diagnosed with the main diagnosis of "Sepsis". In addition, the disease "Congenital heart defect-interventricular septal defect" and its complication "Respiratory failure 1-2 degrees. The diagnosis of "cardiovascular insufficiency 1-2-a degree" was made. The Ministry of Health reported that during treatment, the baby was diagnosed with "thromboembolism of the left shoulder artery, acute circulatory disorders of the left hand and left hand palm of the hand of the third degree, multiorgan failure" and with the consent of his parents, one of his hands was amputated.
This case is under full control of the Ministry of Health, and an official investigation is being conducted to clarify the situation.
