The State Security Service announced that a criminal case has been opened against the deputy head of the tax inspection and the former deputy khokim of Samarkand region. It is noted that the deputy head of the tax inspection of Bulungur district and the accountant of the district's "Accounting Center" were detained while accepting a bribe of 15 million soums in exchange for reducing a farmer's tax debt of 150 million soums. Earlier, the accountant had also received 3 million soums from a farmer.
In another case, a person who worked as a deputy khokim of Kattakurgan district in 2025 took a bribe of 14 million soums and promised to place a citizen in a medical association. However, he did not keep his promise. During the raid, the former deputy governor was caught returning $1,000 as part of the money he had previously received.
Criminal cases have been opened in both cases and investigations are underway.
